Election Cartoon

Hello

The Great India Election Season is here again in The Great Indian Democracy. The General Assembly elections held every five years help us to choose our leaders who will rule over us,quite literally, for the next five years. It starts up with great fanfare, hoopla and is a helluva of things and events. Everyone wants seats, votes, becomes pure white to gain trust and all. Only to get more white,to even be visible around the public. Is it a demoacracy that is, or is it a democarcy that was?

Not having encyclopaedic knowlege of the whole election and related fuss, still the surrounding events give up the hint and inspiration to let a novice write even a novel over all-the-issue-of-white-men. In this great cake of democracy, evryone wants to have a bite. A cake made of toil, hard work of the people at grass-root levels, made of the labour small children and weak mothers put into, made of the injustice, openly flouting norms, and the idiosyncracies of the Air-conditioned leader we select. We Select. Do we? Since many stated have already gone to vote and just a few phases are left (Shows what a large democracy we are), the voter turnout yet is dismal. Not that big cities are a relief, but worse. Mumbai got around 44% turnout, even after 26/11,the pleads for change, the hues and cries. Were all those emotions fake, just mere reactions,or temporary flow of emotions. Here stars campaign, asking us to vote, and they hide themselves in some shade of laze like many others who think to utilise this holiday in a better way. But what better way would it be than to give our nation,a future of peace,a future of betterment, of unity and great socio-economic structure. After all it's our nation. It's our duty. Nobody will come from outside to help in cleaning up the mess, and change the system but our own help could rescue us.

Why do we fail to understand from the last 60 years that we are the change we seek. We have to seek change to avoid blaming the leaders till the next term. If we dont vote,we dont have any right to crib. Politics is often a subject of jokes, but the better and sooner we understand it's importance, the more better we could have a role in an efficient system. The Utopian vision should not just be dream, but an aim for which we should work smart and exercise our rights time to time.

So for those who didnt voted this time,it's a very bad news that they could not be a part of the changing times of The Indian Society and they are just pessimistic about our future. Well, this democracy will again give a chance, use it then, for betterment. And for those who havent got votings in their phase or will be getting soon. Here it is - Go! VOTE!! for a democracy that is!!

Love
